Step 1: Submit Your Practical Test Request

When you’re ready, complete the practical test request form and include all the required details. Requests are processed in the order they are received, but applicants who have fully met their eligibility requirements will be given scheduling priority. If you’re not quite ready yet but anticipate being eligible soon, we still encourage you to reach out — early communication helps us plan ahead and secure your preferred test date.

Step 2: Receive Your Confirmation Email

Within 48 hours of submitting your request, you’ll receive an initial email from our staff. This message will outline our availability, processing requirements, fee schedule, and the next steps to reserve your practical test date.

Step 3: Secure Your Practical Test Date

After your request is processed, you’ll be assigned a calendar month in which to expect your practical test—sometimes as soon as the current month. If you’re ready right away, we’ll place you on our waitlist so you can be accommodated as soon as an opening becomes available.

At this stage, you’ll receive the required forms to complete. Once we’ve received your paperwork, verified your eligibility, and confirmed available testing dates, we’ll work with you and/or your instructor to assign a specific test date and time. To finalize and secure your appointment, a $250 non-refundable processing fee is required.

How to Schedule your Checkride?

Step 4: Test Location and Service Area

Our DPE operates under the Reno FSDO and prioritizes conducting practical tests within the Reno/Tahoe FSDO area for local applicants. We are based at Fallon Municipal Airport (KFLX), and whenever possible, we encourage applicants to test with us in Fallon to maximize scheduling flexibility and efficiency.

Outside checkrides may be considered depending on availability. Unless otherwise pre-coordinated, applicants from outside the Reno/Tahoe FSDO area should plan to travel to Fallon. Local Reno FSDO applicants and flight schools are not required to travel to Fallon, and no travel fee applies for tests conducted within the Reno FSDO service area.

Step 5: Travel Recommendations

If you are scheduled as the first test of the day during the winter months, we recommend arriving at Fallon Municipal Airport (KFLX) the day prior to your practical test. To support your success, we provide complimentary ramp parking, access to a crew car, and a professional testing environment.

Applicants are responsible for booking their own hotel accommodations and meals, but we’re happy to share our recommended local options to make your stay more convenient.
